Cisco Access Control Server

Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS) is an access policy control platform that provides an authentication and authorization using Mac address, TACACS+ or RADIUS, and user/group databases in a domain/server.
Cisco Secure ACS helps improve productivity and security. The ACS is also a major component in the Cisco trust and identity network security schemes (802.1x, NAC).

With ACS, you can control user access for Cisco routers, VPNs, firewalls, dialup and DSL connections, cable access solutions, storage, content, VoIP, wireless, and switches that use 802.1x access control.

By integrating with Microsoft IAS, Cisco Secure ACS lets you centrally manage access to network resources for a growing variety of access types such as wireless and remote access. You can also manage the network access based on Mac address.

Cisco ACS supports multiple scenarios simultaneously, as showing below:

·   Device administration: Authenticates administrators, authorizes commands, and provides an audit trail

·   Remote Access: Works with VPN and other remote network access devices to enforce access policies

·   Wireless: Authenticates and authorizes wireless users and hosts and enforces wireless-specific policies

·   Network admission control: Communicates with posture and audit servers to enforce admission control policies
